Refined chardonnay from an enclosed organic vineyard
Vintage 2014 Clos de l'Abbaye
Just behind the Doyard family house you can find an enclosed vineyard, only 0.5 hectare in size, planted in 1956. The soil contains lots of limestone, pesticides and herbicides have been banned since a long time and the yield is low. Chardonnay grapes from this clos are vinified in used oak without malolactic fermentation. Vintage 2014 is a refined and lean blanc de blancs: take your time to sip this champagne.
Vintage year 2014 was not easy: after a warm and dry spring, a damp summer followed. Only towards September sunshine made for a good finish. In Montagne de Reims pinot noir did really well.
