The Henriot family first started producing clothes in 1640 but soon began adding champagne production to their family activities. The family began purchasing land and soon became experts in champagne production. It was not until 1808 that Apolline Henriot founded the Henriot champagne house called Maison Henriot. Apolline had a deep love for the champagne region of Reims and the production of the first cuvée was a fact. The first Henriot cuvée is now known as the Henriot Brut Souverain. Subsequently, in 1880, Paul Henriot added several champagne regions to the house for the production of champagne. In 1970, Joseph Henriot, 7th generation of the Henriot family, decided to expand the reserve wine collection. Today, the Henriot Maison is overseen by Gilles de Larouziere Henriot, 8th generation of the Henriot family.
