Taittinger champagne

Taittinger champagne is a very popular champagne and is one of the largest international brands in the Champagne region. Champagne is for sale in more than 130 countries and the Taittinger champagne house is also the largest family business in the region. They only use the most exclusive high-quality Chardonnay grapes when producing their champagnes. In this way, the consistent quality, elegance and finesse of the champagnes is guaranteed. At L'Atelier du Champagne, we have included a beautiful selection of Taittinger champagnes in the range.

About the Champagne House Taittinger

The Taittinger champagne house dates from 1734, making it one of the oldest champagne houses in the Champagne region. The founder of the house is Jacques Fourneaux and did not give the Taittinger name. Pierre Taittinger did this in 1934 when he took over the champagne house. After the takeover, the house and its champagnes became extremely popular, partly due to innovation and a clear vision.

For example, Francois Taittinger foresaw that the Chardonnay grape would become important because of its elegance, finesse and style. In 1952, the Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs was born. Champagne has its origins in the grand crus vineyards of the Cotes des Blancs. Then came a whole series of champagnes called Collection. The bottles were also provided with the most beautiful paintings by well-known artists such as Vaserely, Arman, Lichtenstein and many others.

Fun fact, the champagne house was temporarily owned by an investment company in 2005. However, the Taittinger family saw that quality could not be guaranteed. In 2006, the family therefore decided to buy the champagne house back. Nowadays they work with a very enthusiastic team and the quality and taste are well controlled.

What makes Taittinger Champagne uniques?

Taittinger is one of the few family businesses in the champagne region. Owning more than 289 hectares of vineyards around Reims, Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger, together with his daughter Vitalie and son Clovis, oversees the champagne house. Together with a young and driven team, we provide a wide but diverse range of cuvées and often focus on the catering industry. By preferring high-quality Chardonnay grapes all these years, they have become true specialists. The champagnes therefore have a finesse, elegance and a unique light style.

The Taittinger Champagnes

Over the years, the Taittinger champagne house has launched various champagnes. The first champagne to be created was the Comtes de Champagne (Blancs de Blancs).

Comtes de Champagne

The Comtes de Champagne is a champagne with its origins in 1952. The champagne is still made today with the five best crus in the Cote des Blancs region, namely; Avize, Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The mix gives this champagne a very fresh and fruity aroma and the taste is powerful. For example, champagne is often described as a champagne filled with stone fruits, orchard, pastry cream, almonds and mandarins. The taste of the champagne is mildly sour in the aftertaste and has an alcohol percentage of about 12.5%.

Prélude Grands Cru

The Prelude Grands Cru is a champagne that is produced exclusively with grapes from the Grand Crus vineyards. On average, this champagne is aged for about 5 years and that can certainly be tasted and smelled. For example, the aroma is characterized by citrus and flowers and cinnamon emerges in the taste. The champagne has a long, but full aftertaste and has an alcohol content of 12%.
