In 1838 William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, both German immigrants, founded a champagne domain that would keep only the name of the first. Based in Ay, the champagne house would soon find an enthusiastic market in the United Kingdom. In 1983 Deutz was bought by the Rouzaud family, also owner of champagne domain Roederer.
Well balanced champagnes with an elegant, classic style: historic Deutz is still a reliable name for delicious champagnes.
The domain's aged vintage champagne is named after the founder: William Deutz. The little bronze statue of a smiling Amor, or Amour, that welcomes visitors to the house in Ay, is the inspiration for the other top cuvee: Amour de Deutz.
