The history of Louis Roederer champagne

Louis Roederer inherited a large champagne house in 1833. The house was one of the last independent houses in the Champagne area. Lous Roederer cultivated his own vineyards and focused on the quality of the soil, passion and traditions. Moreover, Louis Roederer had a good vision for the future. Around 1870 the first champagnes went to the United States and were even exported to the then Tsar in Russia. The Cuvée de Prestige was first launched in 1876 and was given the name Cristal. To this day, this champagne is one of the most famous and elegant champagnes in the world. The Louis Roederer house is now run by the 7th generation, the Rouzaud family.

Cristal

The Cristal champagne from the house Louis Roederer is the most famous champagne from this house. The name given to the champagne is due to the material of the bottle in which the champagne was given to the then Tsar of Russia, Alexander II. The champagne came in a transparent lead crystal bottle. The bottle had a transparent and luminous appearance. The champagne is characterized by its perfect balance and refined taste.

Brut Premier

The Brut Premier champagne from the Louis Roederer house dates from the time after the First World War. Unfortunately, a large part of the vineyards were destroyed. Léon Olry Roederer then took care of the restoration and bought grapes so that the Louis Roederer house could continue. It was during this time that the Brut Premier was born. The taste of the champagne is consistent and consists of a blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier. The champagne is matured for at least 3 years in the cellars and therefore has a fresh aftertaste with a youthful and seductive character.

Vintage

The vintage champagnes from the house of Louis Roederer are unique champagnes that are a testament to a special year. The champagnes have a strong and concentrated taste and are aged for at least 4 years. The champagne is characterized by notes of pear, citrus and sour red fruit. Ideal for drinking on special occasions.
